Taos Tao #20
Different
"nothing is good nor bad but thinking makes it so."
what is the difference between yes or no
what does relativity really mean?
black vs white, shades in between?
People are consumed with fears
which team will win
will there be enough beer.
all the while,
while they're having a blast
I observe the present
thus the future and past
like a new born babe
I feel unattached
People crowd the malls
buy and bye
It seems so pointless
I ask myself why?
I must be a fool
no ambition
why am I
the way I am
these people seem
so cute and so witty
selecting their fashions
while snorting the speed
I contrast with me,
a wave on the sea
finding no attraction
in things such as these
these people are moving
in some specific direction
but I am drifting
as if in derelection
I feel so different
so far removed from their world
living in the NOW
sustained by the Tao

Writers referenced: Beck, Blakney, McDonald, Mitchell, Hansen, Ganson
The world turns, the worm turns, the people lift up their beers and cheer another victory in the seasonal ball game, watch soaps and absorb themselves in the minutiae of whether a star broke a nail or is getting divorced for the 5th time. People's fears are rarely realized. 98% of their worries never come true but they spend a huge amount of time worrying about what will never happen. The mystic spends time thinking about positive things or not thinking at all. The mystic spends time in meditation while others spend time running around the wheel in the cage seeking to gather more money for a new SUV. The masses have clear loyalties to ball players simply because of an amount of goals scored. The masses follow politicians who shout things which give them more fear adding vague promises about the future which are rarely fulfilled. The masses hate the enemy without ever seeing his face. The masses strive for more consumption but the mystic is fulfilled through achieving DivineUnity. |
