Tao Te #38 ~ Power
Ф

True Power does not emphasize its strength
thus demonstrating true puissance
False power emphasizes its existence
thus lacking real strength

True Power does nothing
having no motive to accomplish
false power abides
waiting for a certain moment
to strike, doing nothing

Those who follow the way
do not put themselves above the law
They strive with willing hands
to lead others along the way

When they lose their way
they strive toward goodness
when they lose goodness
they try to be kind
when they lose kindness
they strive for justice
and when justice is lost
they strive to perform
legal forms
rituals to reassure themselves
of their patriotism
and loyalty
spouting opinions
watering the flowers
of ignorance

Thus the wise
abide within DivineUnity
living within the seed of truth
casting the shell away
living within the fruit
letting go of the unecessary
retaining the heart

Interpretation

Writers referenced : Beck, Feng-English, Lau, Mitchell

We can observe in life that truly powerful people are not occupied with demonstrating their power. We are truly powerful people when we have mastered ourselves. When someone is spiritually motivated they do not have the intent of gaining over others and so they do not have ulterior motives. When we are pure of heart we are one in DivineUnity and thus all things manifest beautifully and perfectly. We can observe how some people are simply waiting for their moment to strike but the spiritually centered people are open and accepting the moment as it is without anticipation of a particular constellation of events in order to gain something. Truly empowered people do not attempt to place themselves above the law and are truly compassionate anbd willing to extend themselves to foster the spiritual growth of other people.
In observing history, or observing the behavior of people, we find that people who are on the spiritual path encompassed within the truth of their DivineUnity. When caring people lose their way, they will then focus on behavior that previously they embodied, thus striving to have good behavior. When they are unable to behave well then they will strive to be kind. When they fail even in kindness they will strive to be just and then if they fail in being just they will simply resort to the form and ritual of being just and while doing this they will spout politically correct slogans and do their best to appear patriotic.
Thus truly spiritually evolved people, abide in DivineUnity and thus embody the best elements of Spirit beginning with compassion and enfolding all other qualities of abundance and love.
