Tao #75 ~ slippery slope
ะค
Taxing the poor and the middle classes,
hunger strikes the heart of the masses.
Wealthy rulers mix into the affairs
of the common man and prompt rebellion.
The ruling elites don't want to pay for defense
when they can place a price on your head.
Army wages are low, but you are helpless
hungry and starved for bread.
Thus it becomes easy to be a martyr
to be brave, to volunteer
when you have no hope
it's a slippery slope
But the person who is not afraid to die
is also a person who is unafraid of life

The Long Version
Taxing the poor and the middle classes,
hunger strikes the heart of the masses.
Corporate Welfare
and unwarranted subsidies.
crush the heart of society.
The working classes feel cheated
and say that life is not worth living
so they drill baby drill
till they can drill no more
yet the land is no longer giving
the trees are felled
turning life into hell
but companies keep clear cutting
and the bush bears no fruit
but the army swells with recruits
even while the protesters keep blogging
The ruling elites don't want to pay for defense
when they can place a price on your head.
Army wages are low, but you are helpless
hungry, poor and starved for bread.
Thus it becomes easy to be a martyr
to be brave, to volunteer
for the war
waged by the president
with whom you thought
you
could drink a beer
but the alcoholic
has learned long ago
that when you have no hope
it's a slippery slope
sliding down
down down
till you choke
on that vote
and begin to think its better to be stoic
than to place a value on it
but the person who is unafraid of death
is not afraid of living
